Ingredients 0 / 6 ✓

  • 800 g sweet potatoes
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions 0 / 3

  1. 1

    Cut the sweet potatoes.

Peel the sweet potatoes and cut into even batons, roughly 1 cm wide and 7 cm long. Even sizing is important so that all the fries cook through at the same time.

  2. 2

Make the seasoning mix in the Thermomix®.

Add the olive oil, paprika, salt, garlic powder and pepper to the mixing bowl and mix for 10 sec / speed 4. Toss the batons in a large bowl with the seasoning mix until all the fries are evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Cook in the air fryer.

Preheat the air fryer to 190°C. Arrange the sweet potato batons in a single layer in the basket, without stacking them. Cook at 190°C for 15 to 18 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously after 7 to 9 minutes. The fries are ready when the edges are golden brown and lightly crispy.

How to get perfect sweet potato fries in the air fryer

The Thermomix® takes care of the seasoning: oil, paprika and salt are combined briefly at speed 4 and distributed evenly over the pre-cut batons. The air fryer then takes over at 190°C for 15 to 18 minutes. Give the basket a good shake halfway through so all sides colour evenly.

Our tips

  • Cut the batons as uniformly as possible so they cook evenly. Batons that are too thin will burn, and batons that are too thick will stay raw in the middle.
  • Want them even crispier? Add 1 tsp of cornflour to the seasoning mix. It creates a finer crust.
  • Do not overcrowd the basket. If the fries overlap they will steam rather than crisp up. Cook in two batches if needed.
