Air fryer meatballs are, for us, the most stress-free option: no splattering, no turning in hot oil, and the Thermomix® mixes the mince in just one minute.
Air Fryer Meatballs with the Thermomix®
Ingredients 0 / 9 ✓
- 600 g mixed minced meat beef and pork
- 1 piece onion medium-sized, approx. 100 g
- 1 piece egg medium (size M)
- 3 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp medium-hot mustard
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp sweet paprika
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley finely chopped
Instructions 0 / 5
-
1
Chop the onion.
Peel the onion, halve it and chop for 5 sec / speed 5. Scrape down briefly.
-
2
Mix the mince in the Thermomix®.
Add the egg, breadcrumbs, mustard, salt, pepper, paprika and parsley, then mix for 10 sec / speed 4. Add the minced meat and knead for 20 sec / speed 4 until a smooth, even mixture forms. Do not mix for too long or the meatballs will turn out dense.
-
3
Shape and chill the meatballs.
Shape the mixture into 8 even meatballs, each about 2 cm thick. Refrigerate the mixture for 10 minutes before shaping so it is easier to handle and holds its form better during cooking.
-
4
Cook in the air fryer.
Preheat the air fryer to 180°C. Place the meatballs in the basket, leaving a little space between them. Cook for 12 to 15 minutes at 180°C, turning once after 6 to 7 minutes.
-
5
Check doneness and serve.
The meatballs are ready when the core temperature has reached 70°C and no pink meat is visible.
How to get perfect meatballs in the air fryer
The Thermomix® briefly combines the onion, egg and breadcrumbs at speed 4 before the minced meat goes in and is mixed at speed 4 into a compact mixture. The shaped meatballs then cook at 180°C for 12 to 15 minutes in the air fryer, turned once halfway through.
Our tips
- Refrigerate the mixture for 10 minutes before shaping. It becomes easier to handle and the meatballs hold their shape better during cooking.
- Even thickness matters more than even size. If one meatball is 3 cm thick and another is 1.5 cm, one will still be raw when the other is already dry.
- Leftovers freeze well: leave the cooked meatballs to cool, freeze them, then reheat at 160°C for 8 minutes in the air fryer.
